Although everyone has their own favorite method for trimming their pubic hair, it is not something that is immediately discussed over the dinner table. Maybe you want to remove hair for the first time, and you don't know which method suits you and you feel too shy to ask for advice. In this article we therefore share the most commonly used methods for pubic hair removal and list the pros and cons!
It is estimated that more than half of men in the Netherlands regularly maintain their pubic hair. But which method do they prefer? That information is not known. It is suspected that it concerns shaving: the most 'usual' and cheap way of shaving.
If men don't use a razor and just want to keep their pubic hair trimmed, scissors are often used. Many men also have a trimmer (although you should never use the one on your face for your balls , and vice versa!).
Apart from the most common ways of maintaining your pubic hair, there are also methods that are less common among men: waxing or waxing your pubic hair or even having your pubic hair lasered to maintain your pubic area. In this article we compare all the methods and you can decide which method suits you.
The pros and cons of shaving or trimming your pubic hair
This is the method that everyone is familiar with. Cheap, easier and relatively painless.

What do you use? You use razor blades or a body hair trimmer such as The BushBuster 4.0 .
How does it work? Take a warm shower to make your hair soft and easier to shave. Use a clean blade and shave in the direction of the hair. You can place the blade on the skin, but you can also let it float just above the skin (if you are working with the trimmer). This immediately prevents a lot of hassle with wounds, irritation and more. Trimming is anyway the best option if you want to “shave” your balls, because it is a sensitive area with very thin skin. Read our tips for shaving your balls here.
Does it hurt? Only if you accidentally cut yourself. You run a much greater risk of this with regular razor blades than with a body hair trimmer. The BushBuster 4.0 has a protective cap that ensures that the blade does not come into direct contact with your skin.
Is it expensive? That's not too bad. Razor blades cost a few euros, but you have to replace them regularly. A trimmer costs a few bucks and lasts much longer. You also have to replace the blades less often.
How long does the result last? Short. Pubic hair grows about 0.3 millimeters per day, or one centimeter per month. If you want to keep it bald, you will have to work every day. If you just want to keep it short, shaving about twice a week will suffice.
Regret level? Low. Unless you accidentally shave off your left note, there is little to worry about with this method. Your hair will grow back within a few days.
The pros and cons of waxing or waxing your pubic hair
You may not hear it often, but did you know that more and more men are having their pubic areas waxed? It has become so popular that it is called the “boyzilian” or the “brozilian”!
What do you use? Waxing and waxing are similar but slightly different: with waxing, the resin adheres not only to the hair but also to the skin. This is not the case with waxing: it only adheres to the hair. Waxing is therefore more suitable for the sensitive pubic area. Warm resin and wax strips are used for waxing. Although you can do it yourself, it is not necessarily recommended in a sensitive area such as the pubic area unless you really know what you are doing.
How does it work? Make sure your pubic hair is not too short: at least half a centimeter. Otherwise the wax will not stick properly. Heat the wax, and apply it with a stick to the area to be waxed. Then let it harden, stretch the skin and then peel it off in one motion.
Does it hurt? Yes. We can be brief about that. But fortunately the pain is short-lived.
Is it expensive? Getting your pubic area waxed costs a few bucks.
How long does the result last? Because waxing involves pulling the entire hair (root and all) out of the hair follicle, the hair stays away longer. This also means you don't have any stubble. The hair stays away for about two to four weeks.
Regret level? Anyone who has ever seen the movie “The Forty Year Old Virgin” can imagine that the regret level of a waxing treatment during the treatment is quite high. It's painful and slightly embarrassing. You'll no doubt be rethinking your life choices as you find yourself in the awkward position of getting your buttocks waxed . But the result is the reason for many people to keep coming back!
The pros and cons of lasering your pubic hair
It may seem a bit dramatic, but if you're done with the constant shaving, trimming or waxing and you're sure you want to get rid of your hair growth, lasering may be an option.
What do you use? Nothing, because you don't do it yourself. The hair removal clinic uses lasers.
How does it work? Short pulses of laser light act on the hair and hair follicle, ultimately destroying the hair and hair follicle, preventing the hair from growing back.
Does it hurt? Yes, because the pubic area is an area with thin and therefore sensitive skin. It seems to feel like pinpricks and is therefore doable. You do need several sessions.
Is it expensive? Yes, because you need multiple sessions, you are quickly looking at a rate of hundreds to a thousand euros.
How long does the result last? The advantage is that the result is final.
Regret level? It seems to be less painful than waxing, and you can get rid of it after a few sessions. But if you change your mind later and still want to rock a full bunch in your underpants, you're out of luck: gone is gone.
By the way, if you are considering using hair removal cream for your balls, it is highly not recommended. Such a cream is full of aggressive chemicals and you don't put it on the sensitive skin of your balls, right? Don't do it!
