Did you know that the vast majority of men shave or trim their pubic hair? That's not surprising, because over the years au naturel has become a less popular pubic hair style . If you've already decided to get started with scissors or The BushBuster 4.0 , we have guides for you on how to shave your pubic hair (and also shave your balls !), but if you're still unsure about whether to say goodbye of your cultivated rainforest, then this article is for you! We share the pros and cons of shaving pubic hair for men.
The figures about men and their pubic hair
Manscaping is hot! Research shows that men worldwide are saying goodbye to their pubic hair en masse . The figures vary by country, with more than half of men shaving in America, and as much as 80% in Belgium. In the Netherlands, the most recent figures are already a few years old, and they indicate that the majority of men at least keep their pubic hair trimmed.

Reasons to shave your pubic hair as a man
There are several reasons why they shave places other than their face. The majority of men do it for beauty reasons: they simply think it looks more attractive. And women completely agree with that too. The majority of women indicate that they find it sexy when a man removes hair from his pubic area. This would also be evident from the fact that men are not always hairless (19%).
Hygiene is another common reason for shaving pubic hair. And this is probably largely motivated by women: half of women indicate that they find pubic hair "dirty" or "unhygienic". And well, if the choice is between a full bush in the underpants or more fun in the bedroom, then the razor is quickly grabbed, of course.
By the way, there is no evidence whatsoever that pubic hair is really dirty or unhygienic ( read more about unpleasant odors here ). It grows for a reason. The reason why we have pubic hair is not clear. It could have something to do with the fact that spreading pheromones is easier if you have pubic hair.
It could also be that it grows there mainly to indicate that you are sexually mature, since pubic hair only starts to grow during puberty. Then it is special that the current beauty ideal asks women to remove hair in that area, but we will not go into that too deeply.
Finally, exercise is also a common reason to shave your pubic hair. You may not like the sight of pubic hair peeking out from under your swim trunks, or you may believe that complete hair removal makes you more aerodynamic. There is no conclusive evidence for this, but a placebo effect can also help, of course.

Benefits of shaving pubic hair
Now that we've taken a comprehensive look at the motivations behind the potential pruning, it's time to look at the pros and cons of shearing.
- More sex: Research shows that men who have less pubic hair get more oral sex than their hairier friends. Not surprising, because there is little more attractive than having to push yourself through a jungle to get to the crown jewels.
- Greater self-confidence: This has mainly been reported in women, but for convenience we assume that this is also the case in men. After all, pruning the bushes makes the tree look bigger, right?
- Less chance of pubic lice: Well, this one speaks for itself. If there is no pubic hair, then there are no pubic lice. It is expected that pubic lice will eventually become extinct.

Disadvantages of shaving pubic hair
Did you know that approximately 3% of adults end up in the emergency room with injuries to their genitals? This is slightly more likely to be women than men, because they shave more often than men, but the difference is small. Shaving wounds or infections occur in about a quarter of shaves, but fortunately only 1% of these injuries are serious enough to require emergency care.
- Wounds: In short... pay attention when working with a razor blade. If you want to reduce the risk of injury, we recommend The BushBuster 4.0 . Because of the protected cap, the shaver does not come into direct contact with the skin, and the chance of shaving is therefore seriously reduced.
- Ingrown hairs: There are few things more irritating than ingrown hairs and their associated bumps. To keep these at bay, always shave in the direction of the hair and use clean blades.
- Itching: Itching is one of the most common side effects of shaving pubic hair. You can prevent this by shaving when the skin is wet and using a soothing gel afterwards.
- You need to keep up: Once you start, it's best to keep up with it. At least if you want it to be consistently neat. And that takes some time and effort. By the way, pubic hair doesn't grow faster if you shave it.
Now that you've heard all the pros and cons of trimming your pubic hair, the only question left is: what do you do? Are you team pubic hair or team bald?
